Ethics & Boundaries

Training to become a counsellor carries responsibility, not just curiosity.

While I’m in training, it’s important to be clear about what this website is - and what it isn’t.

I am not currently offering counselling or therapeutic services. The writing on this site is reflective in nature and relates to my learning and development as a counselling trainee. It is not intended to provide advice, diagnosis, or therapeutic support.

A core part of counselling training is learning to work within clear ethical boundaries. That includes understanding the limits of one’s role, recognising when something falls outside that role, and being accountable for how one’s words and presence may be experienced by others.

For me, that means:

  • being transparent about my training status

  • not presenting myself as a qualified practitioner

  • not analysing people, situations, or experiences through a therapeutic lens in public

  • not using this space to process personal material that belongs in supervision or therapy

Reflection is an essential part of learning, but it needs to be held appropriately. This site is a place for considered, professional reflection - not a substitute for supervision, personal therapy, or clinical work.

I take confidentiality, boundaries, and ethical responsibility seriously. As my training progresses, and when my role changes in the future, this site will be updated clearly and in line with professional expectations.

If you’re looking for counselling or therapeutic support now, I would encourage you to seek a qualified practitioner or an appropriate support service.
